Olympus Zuiko 50mm f/2.0 Telephoto Macro ED Digital SLR Camera Lens

4.0 out of 5 starsSharp olympus macro lens,

It’s a very sharp olympus macro lens. At zuiko 50mm it’s doubled as a portrait lens. I won’t use it as a landscape lens. At f8, it’s still in macro mode, so if you want more depth of field on a bright day, it may not be the best zuiko 50mm to use.

The compact size is a big selling point. The 1:2 magnification ratio (or 1:1 35mm equivalent) is wonderful giving that naked-eye look. When it’s mounted on my E-620, viewfinder is brighter than when 14-54mm II is mounted because of the brighter aperture (f2 vs f2.8).

The olympus macro lens hood is shaped like a noodle bowl. When reversed (storing position), it’ll cover the manual focus ring, disallow focus by hand. This is a problem, since this zuiko 50mm lens is not an AF performer.

Speaking of AF, it makes me wish Olympus would make a high-speed imager AF version of it, so it doesn’t have to flip the mirror when focusing. Olympus macro lens are not known for fast AF anyways.

Its AF tends to hunt a lot. Practically speaking, this is a MF ring is very nice and dampened. It’s the “focus-by-wire” type. Though purists may not like it over the mechanical focus, but it allows a generous three full revolution MF traveling distance from shortest to infinite.

That should make precise MF easier. However, because of that, you’re not gonna get a fast enough manual focus for street/action photography.

The olympus macro lens will double in length when you focus toward the minimum focus distance (0.24m), so keep the hood on in operation position will help preventing lens from bumping into your subject because of carelessness.

This olympus macro lens is considered one of the best lenses of its type. When I first got it, I noticed it’s significantly brighter than my 14-54mm II. The picture it takes looks sharper, and has better Booker (out of focus area).

If you are thinking about hooking the older 50mm f2 (effectively 100mm with 4/3 format) with the OM-adapter to your olympus macro lens then you’re not alone.

However, after some research, I believe it’s better to buy this zuiko 50mm digital lens than use the older lens because this zuiko 50mm lens has an ED glass which is absent from the film SLR model. ED glass will help reducing chromatic aberration (which is more of a problem for digital format than film) and make the end result sharper as well.

Construction is solid. It feels like a giant rock in hand, and is capable of killing Goliath if mounted on a sling. Like all other Olympus Pro level lenses, it’s splash and dust proof and it has metal body with glass fibre reinforced plastic exterior that matches Olympus camera body.

Highly recommended for olympus macro lens users. Not recommended as the always-on lens because of the AF speed.

  • How to Use a Digital SLR Camera Lens.

    • The most important part of a digital slr camera, its slr camera lens, determines the quality of your photographs. Experienced photographers have long considered SLR camera Lens the best.
    • Once SLRs only used 35mm film, but today you’ll also find digital SLRs. The best thing about Digital SLR camera is that you can switch digital slr lens to match your photographing conditions.
    • Match camera lenses to your camera. Camera bodies come with a lens mount that tells you what SLR lenses work with your digital slr camera. For example, Canon EF telephoto lens mounts accept EF telephoto lens.
    • If you want to try a different lens, you must buy the appropriate lens mount adapter.Learn about aperture, which is the opening in your slr camera lens where light passes through.
    • Many cameras come with a variable aperture that allows you to adjust the depth of field. Other lenses remain at the same aperture.
    • Choose wide-angle lenses for shooting landscapes and interior shots that benefit from a great depth of field. Wide-angles use a focal length of 35mm or less. A standard slr camera lens is 50mm.
    • Select EF telephoto lens with a longer focal length to allow you to focus in on a subject that is at a distance from you. EF Telephoto Lens start at 85 mm and continue up.
    • The focal length of a camera 600mm or larger makes such a large lens that it’s difficult to hold steady, so it’s best to use a tripod.
    • Find the best in both worlds with a slr zoom lens. A zoom lens lets you adjust your focal length. Although some zooms include wide-angle shots in a 24-70 lens, most work for zooming in on distant shots, like with a 70-200mm lens.
    • Sacrifice image quality with a slr zoom lens or purchase a prime or fixed focal length SLR camera lens for the best quality images.

  • How well Digital SLR Camera Lens performs in different kinds of lighting.

    • Avoid red eye. Red-eye is caused when your eyes dilate in lower lighting. When your pupils are big, the flash actually lights up the blood vessels on the back wall of your eyeball, which is why it looks red.
    • If you must use a flash in poor light, try to get the person to not look directly at the digital slr camera, or consider using a “bounce flash”. Aiming your flash above the heads of your subjects, especially if the walls surrounding are light, will keep red-eye out.
    • If you don’t have a separate flash gun which is adjustable in this way, use the red-eye reduction feature of your camera if available - it flashes a couple of times before opening the shutter, which causes your subject’s pupils to contract, thus minimizing red-eye.
    • Better yet, don’t take photographs which require a flash to be used; find somewhere with better lighting.
Use your flash judiciously, and don’t use it when you don’t have to.
    • A flash in poor light can often cause ugly-looking reflections, or make the subject of your photo appear “washed out”; the latter is especially true of people photos.
    • On the other hand, a flash is very useful for filling in shadows; to eliminate the “raccoon eye” effect in bright midday light, for example.
    • If you can avoid using a flash by going outside, or steadying the camera setting a faster ISO speed (allowing faster shutter speeds), then do that.
    • Go through your photos and look for the best ones. Look for what makes the best photos and continue using the methods that got the best shots. Don’t be afraid to throw away or delete photos, either.
    • Be brutal about it; if it doesn’t strike you as a particularly pleasing shot, then ditch it. If you, like most people, are shooting on a digital camera, then it would not have cost you anything but your time.
    • Before you delete them, remember you can learn a lot from your worst photos; discover why they don’t look good, then don’t do that.
    • The more pictures you take, the better you’ll get, and the more you (and everyone) will like your pictures. Shoot from new or different angles, and find new subjects to take pictures of, and keep at it; you can make even the most boring, everyday thing look amazing if you’re creative enough about photographing it.
    • Get to know your camera’s limitations, too; how well it performs in different kinds of lighting, how well auto-focus performs at various distances, how well it handles moving subjects, and so on.

How to Fix Olympus PEN E-P1 12.3 MP with 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 Zuiko Digital SLR Lens

My only slr camera lens is the 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6  olympus zuiko lens, which doesn’t sound too exciting. However in practice it has been a great general utility lens that has rendered quite nicely, showing nice resolution and sharpness.

I can only anticipate what the E-P1 with olympus zuiko lens will do with a quality, wide aperture prime. I’m up in the air about my next move, but the 50mm f/2 slr camera lens sure looks tempting. But then again it would be great to try OM mount too!

slr camera lens Auto-Focus: I’ve read some questions about the auto-focus performance of this digital slr camera with olympus zuiko lens, but in normal operation haven’t see an issue yet. Granted I haven’t tried to shoot a basketball game or dance recital yet so take this with a grain of salt. For my people shooting in the mall the AF performance has been wonderful and spot on.

When I’ve gone to outdoor settings or even just trying to snap something quick from my car, I’ve found that the autofocus is quite a ways behind my D90. I think it is real world quick, but it is probably a step slower to focus than any Digital SLR Camera on the market. Not saying that’s a bad thing, some worth knowing.

Sensor: The sharpness I see from this  Digital SLR Camera with olympus zuiko lens is well beyond what I expected, so there may be something to the talk that Olympus Digital SLR Camera removed the strong anti-alias filtering most DSLR’s are plagued with.

The jpg results thus far haven’t required any post process sharpening and the Olympus color engine is a breath of fresh air in my opinion.

Handling: Coming form a  Digital SLR Camera with olympus zuiko lens will make you take a little time to get used to the difference. Getting used to shooting with a LiveView display will also take some getting used to.

There isn’t a front/rear two wheel control system as I’m used to with the D90, but there are two primary controls for manual shooting and they can both be worked while shooting one handed.

This olympus zuiko lens very nice design! The buttons and functions are all fully customizable but expect to be nestled up with the manual a wee bit to do it. All in all composing from the LiveView LCD became very natural and fluid after a day.

High marks to  Digital SLR Camera with olympus zuiko lens in designing such a usable system. The only thing I still have to figure out is a button to disable auto-focus so I can go fully manual.

How to Fix Olympus Zuiko 40-150mm Digital Camera Lens

    • We may have a limited choice in olympus zuiko lens with the four thirds system, however I don’t think we need so many like those canon amateurs because we have this bad boy.
    • I assume, like me, you purchased an olympus zuiko lens with a shorter kit lens and are looking to extend your range.
    • The focal length giving you a 30-8.2 degree field of view you can tighten up your frame even at close range;35 inches. But if you want to do macro or to come in closer, I would suggest a $10 set of macro filters.
As for distance I find it works very well.
    • For that tree of in the distance that only looks good so far away, or the close up of hands on the reins in the passing parade you will not be disappointed.
    • At F/4 zoomed out wide and F5.6 zoomed all the way in this is a slower lens. That means you may get blurring or shakey-ness in less than ideal conditions. And being such a wide zoom and slow the pictures can come out softer than maybe you would desire.
    • However as it is marketed in the standard line and says on the website “These interchangeable lenses have been developed for cost-performance and portability. The best choice for the enthusiasts and digital camera lens beginners as well:” These in-superiorities can be forgiven.
    • Overall I’ve had very good experiences with this olympus zuiko lens. I’ve gotten excellent macro shots with an extension tube and wonderful candid portraits from yards away.
    • The Bokeh is very good when the olympus zuiko lens is zoomed out all the way. I sometimes find it needs a little more blur but the subject is usually sharp enough to isolate so I can add more digital camera lens blur in Photoshop.
    • Focusing in daylight and in bright light is lightning fast, it really beats out the 14-42mm olympus zuiko lens in that regard. Focusing in low light is horrifically painful though; most of the time the AF Assist on my camera is enough to compensate.
    • Focusing to infinity seems like it could be sharper; I wouldn’t recommend this olympus zuiko lens if your subject is going to be more than 35-40 yards away.
    • This olympus zuiko lens is definitely for Enthusiasts and Beginners, but for that purpose it’s excellent and well priced.
    • Anyone seeking a professional alternative should probably jump to the 70-300mm or get the 40-150mm F3.5-4.5 as it’s a higher quality digital camera lens (and honestly it’s not very much more expensive if you get it used/refurbished).

How to Fix Vivitar 35mm with 28-70mm Digital SLR Camera Lens Reviews

I took a chance with the Vivitar digital camera lens review as the price was right and it came with a better warranty than a used K1000. It could also use all of my Pentax lenses which I had not misplaced. I have put this slr camera through the wringer and it has come through on every occasion.

For those who complain that the Vivitar slr camera lens quality is lacking in quality and performance (which I find not to be the case), there is an ample supply of new and used Pentax lenses which produce results that rival my Nikons. I frequently use the Vivitar digital camera lens review and am delighted by its performance.

The vivitar slr camera is built solidly and performs solidly. Results are consistent and I never worry about damaging it as it is not costly to replace. So, if you ever have the feeling that you want to be a true photographer rather than the caretaker of a small computer that takes photographs for you, I highly recommend the V3800N.

Indeed, Nikon thinks so highly of it that they sell it as the FM-10 and will continue to have it manufactured for them by Cosina as one of two 35mm SLR’s they will keep on the market in the digital age, the other being the Nikon-manufactured F6. The Vivitar is a well-made bargain that delivers!! Buy it and enjoy it.

The slr camera lens is clear and bright. It comes with a nice collapsable lens hood, and eye hood. The shutter is crisp with a max 2000, and the film max is 3200. The shoulder strap is durable and strong, the case is excellent, both strong and attractive.

Most importantly, using asa400 both indoors and out, close and far, the photo quality is superb. Have no doubt that this is a professional slr  camera, with total control for the artist, and bright easy to read numbers on both the camera and slr camera lens.

How to use Canon 28 135mm f 3.5 5.6 EF USM Zoom Lens

While I considered purchasing a Canon 10D, I also started looking for a good first lens. Most of the reviewers and Canonites on the various forums suggested this canon 28 135mm lens as a good starting point.

The canon 28 135mm lens IS USM Zoom is the one I use all the time now on the Canon 10D, and that will be the case until I get over the sticker shock of the 10D/Canon 28 135mm f 3.5 5.6 EF combo and start adding other lenses to my kit.

In the meantime, this canon 28 135mm lens gets the job done very well. It gives you good range for a variety of of shots, from portraits to telephotos. There is even a macro mode, which gives you the opportunity to do close-ups–not really a true macro, but okay for shots of flowers, your kitty cat’s face, etc.

It is the flexibility of this canon 28 135mm lens that makes it so appealing if all you have is just one lens. And remember that if you mount this Canon 28 135mm f 3.5 5.6 EF on a digital camera, like the 10D, the range is actually extended by a factor of 1.6.

The USM focuses fast, and the Image Stabilization (IS) really works. In fact, I’ve been spoiled by it, and IS is now a must for any of the longer lenses I might purchase in the future.

The IS system “locks” on target so that camera shake is eliminated or at least seriously minimized. This means fewer shots ruined by camera shake, and the IS system allows the user to shoot handheld at slower shutter speeds. This isn’t just advertising hype. It works.

The image quality is quite good. I get good color saturation, contrast, and sharpness. After tweaking some shots in Photoshop, I was able to turn out some excellent 13×19 inch prints.

As others have pointed out, if you are just starting out with a Canon DSLR or SLR and want one good general purpose lens, this is it.

As of August 2008 I have sold this lens because I have moved on to Canon “L” glass, but the canon 28 135mm is still a great EF macro lens to start with if you are just beginning to learn photography.
