    Digital SLR Lens -Customer Reviews

    From Professional to Amateur Perfection5
The best review I can give on this product is my personal experience with this camera. I have used everything from high end professional use cameras, to the disposable digital cameras, to the credit card sized middle-class digital cameras. I decided to jump to the middle ground for my last camera purchase, when I bought this one.

I was in the same place a few months ago that many of you are in now; reading review after review on multiple websites. Each review lists many details, many of which are very similar. In all honesty, for most users, the minor details will not matter very much; it’s more based on performance, which in this case, is top notch.

I’ve had this camera for a few months now and I have absolutely zero complaints. My range of subjects differs from senior portraits, going out with my friends, to sporting events, etc. and this camera captures all of them with an ease. There are still elements on the camera that I am attempting to learn but the automatic capturing has been fully self explanatory.

I believe this camera is perfect for people wanting to transition from a point and shoot digital to someone who is looking for a digital SLR. With 10.1 mega pixels, the picture quality is high. The 2.5″ screen makes it easy to read and view pictures on a larger scale. There are also some different Picture Styles. This helps a lot when people aren’t too computer savvy when attempting to create the perfect picture. You can adjust certain settings on the LCD screen in order to get the right look for your picture.

    Digital SLR Lens -Product Description

The Sigma 18-200 F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM Lens incorporates an Optical Stabilizer function and is exclusively designed for digital SLR cameras. It is perfectly suitable for low light conditions whether indoors, at dusk, or in telephoto range. This system uses two sensors inside the lens to detect vertical and horizontal movement of the camera by moving an optical image stabilizing lens group, to effectively compensate for camera shake. It also automatically detects panning movement of the camera and compensates for camera shake when shooting moving subjects such as motor sports. SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass and aspherical glass provide excellent correction for all types of aberrations. This lens has a minimum focusing distance of 45cm (17.7″) throughout the entire zoom range and has a maximum magnification of 1:3.9. Since the inner focusing system means the front of the lens does not rotate, optional circular polarizing filters and the supplied petal-type hood can easily be used. A magnification scale is displayed on the lens barrel, ensuring ease of use. A zoom-lock switch mechanism is provided to prevent the lens from creeping due to its own weight. 69.3 - 7.1 degrees (Sigma SD format) angle of view 7 Diaphragm Blades F22 Minimum Aperture 45cm / 17.7 Minimum Focusing Distance 1 - 3.9 Maximum Magnification Petal Lens Hood Dimensions - Diameter 79mm x Length 100mm Weight - 21.5 ounces (610 grams)

    Great Camera5
This is the best camera I have ever owned. Very easy to use, great picture quality. The battery life is much better than other cameras that I have previously owned.

    Love this canon slr rebel!5
I absolutely love this camera! In the first week I took over 700 pictures and for the first time in my life I didn’t have to correct one red eye!! I borrowed my brother’s zoom lens and in certain lighting situations you do need to correct the red eye but I couldn’t be happier! I used to spend hours with photoshop to correct the ugly red eye and now I can just enjoy the amazing quality picture this camera takes! Highly recommend!

Great Digital SLR Lens for outdoor events5
What can I say? This is a great lens for everything under the sun. It is worth every penny I spent on it. Most of the pictures I take with this lens are of track meets and other sporting events. I purchased this coupled with the 2x converter. One thing that I didn’t realize when I purchased the package was the autofocus does not work through the 2x converter. Things move too fast for manual focus at track meets and air shows. So it is rare that I use the 2x converter. I got this lens last year in time for the snowmobile season to start. It is tough and goes with me everywhere. The detail is just incredible. I would recommend this for outdoor use. Not quite fast enough for indoor without a flash. If everyone is standing still, it does a great job, but this lens belongs outside.

A must have Digital SLR Lens!5
I have used this lens for some years now, and even though I own other L lenses including the 70-200mm f2.8 and the f4, I prefer to use this lens because it is more versatile. This lens produces images, wide open, throughout its zoom range that are comparable in sharpness and color to the 70-200mm f2.8 (which is as sharp as you can get in zoom lenses). What’s more, this lens beats all other lenses when it comes to macro photography in the field. This lens has maximum magnification of 0.20 at 400mm. The images are so sharp that I can see pollen, tiny barbs and hair on insects while shooting handheld from 6 feet away. The background blur is superb. The only other lenses that I carry are the 24-70mm f2.8 and the 50mm f1.4.

    Digital SLR Lens -Customer Reviews

Best telephoto zoom I own, and it better be for this price!4
I own a Canon 75-300mm non-IS lens and while it’s light and sharp enough in bright light on a 1.6x crop body, I’ve missed too many shots of wildlife in the shade or at dawn/dusk. I was going on a trip to Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks and decided if there was ever a time to invest in a lens for the future, it was now.

When trying to decide whether to buy this lens or not, I must have looked at every Digital SLR Lens in the 50-400mm range made by Canon, Sigma, Tamron and Tokina. I rented the Canon 100-400L for a weekend, and learned a few things. 1) it was too large and heavy to carry around on hikes longer than a few miles and 2) good image stabilization was going to be just about as important as lens quality. With this new information, and reading lots of lens tests I narrowed my choices down to this lens, the Canon 70-300 IS and the Canon 55-250 IS.

Now it really came down to money; was I willing to spend nearly 2x as much on this lens which was sharper, faster and weather sealed, but weighed more and had less reach than the other two? Ultimately I decided to purchase this one because, compared to the other two, there was no way I would be disappointed with any of my photos due to the lens and the onus would be on me to take great photographs. With either of the others, there was a chance I’d wish the lens were faster or sharper.

I am very happy with this purchase and have also become a believer in weather sealing. It was windy in Yellowstone and the pine trees were giving off huge amounts of pollen. I got several bits inside my Tamron 17-50, but the inside of this lens are flawless. The only reason I didn’t give this lens 5 stars is the high price tag.

In addition, if you want to spend some more money to get some extra reach, I’d recommend the Kenko Teleplus PRO 300 DG AF 1.4x Teleconverter for Canon EOS which works flawlessly with this lens and my 40D.

    Great Digital SLR Lens5
I received my lens very quickly. Although the writeup on this lens said it had some box damage and was used, it had never been opened and the box itself only had a slight scuff.I love this lens, it is now my walk around lens for the winter months. Thank you all so much.
