• How to Use a Digital SLR Camera Lens.

    • The most important part of a digital slr camera, its slr camera lens, determines the quality of your photographs. Experienced photographers have long considered SLR camera Lens the best.
    • Once SLRs only used 35mm film, but today you’ll also find digital SLRs. The best thing about Digital SLR camera is that you can switch digital slr lens to match your photographing conditions.
    • Match camera lenses to your camera. Camera bodies come with a lens mount that tells you what SLR lenses work with your digital slr camera. For example, Canon EF telephoto lens mounts accept EF telephoto lens.
    • If you want to try a different lens, you must buy the appropriate lens mount adapter.Learn about aperture, which is the opening in your slr camera lens where light passes through.
    • Many cameras come with a variable aperture that allows you to adjust the depth of field. Other lenses remain at the same aperture.
    • Choose wide-angle lenses for shooting landscapes and interior shots that benefit from a great depth of field. Wide-angles use a focal length of 35mm or less. A standard slr camera lens is 50mm.
    • Select EF telephoto lens with a longer focal length to allow you to focus in on a subject that is at a distance from you. EF Telephoto Lens start at 85 mm and continue up.
    • The focal length of a camera 600mm or larger makes such a large lens that it’s difficult to hold steady, so it’s best to use a tripod.
    • Find the best in both worlds with a slr zoom lens. A zoom lens lets you adjust your focal length. Although some zooms include wide-angle shots in a 24-70 lens, most work for zooming in on distant shots, like with a 70-200mm lens.
    • Sacrifice image quality with a slr zoom lens or purchase a prime or fixed focal length SLR camera lens for the best quality images.

  • How well Digital SLR Camera Lens performs in different kinds of lighting.

    • Avoid red eye. Red-eye is caused when your eyes dilate in lower lighting. When your pupils are big, the flash actually lights up the blood vessels on the back wall of your eyeball, which is why it looks red.
    • If you must use a flash in poor light, try to get the person to not look directly at the digital slr camera, or consider using a “bounce flash”. Aiming your flash above the heads of your subjects, especially if the walls surrounding are light, will keep red-eye out.
    • If you don’t have a separate flash gun which is adjustable in this way, use the red-eye reduction feature of your camera if available - it flashes a couple of times before opening the shutter, which causes your subject’s pupils to contract, thus minimizing red-eye.
    • Better yet, don’t take photographs which require a flash to be used; find somewhere with better lighting.
Use your flash judiciously, and don’t use it when you don’t have to.
    • A flash in poor light can often cause ugly-looking reflections, or make the subject of your photo appear “washed out”; the latter is especially true of people photos.
    • On the other hand, a flash is very useful for filling in shadows; to eliminate the “raccoon eye” effect in bright midday light, for example.
    • If you can avoid using a flash by going outside, or steadying the camera setting a faster ISO speed (allowing faster shutter speeds), then do that.
    • Go through your photos and look for the best ones. Look for what makes the best photos and continue using the methods that got the best shots. Don’t be afraid to throw away or delete photos, either.
    • Be brutal about it; if it doesn’t strike you as a particularly pleasing shot, then ditch it. If you, like most people, are shooting on a digital camera, then it would not have cost you anything but your time.
    • Before you delete them, remember you can learn a lot from your worst photos; discover why they don’t look good, then don’t do that.
    • The more pictures you take, the better you’ll get, and the more you (and everyone) will like your pictures. Shoot from new or different angles, and find new subjects to take pictures of, and keep at it; you can make even the most boring, everyday thing look amazing if you’re creative enough about photographing it.
    • Get to know your camera’s limitations, too; how well it performs in different kinds of lighting, how well auto-focus performs at various distances, how well it handles moving subjects, and so on.

How to use Canon 28 135mm f 3.5 5.6 EF USM Zoom Lens

While I considered purchasing a Canon 10D, I also started looking for a good first lens. Most of the reviewers and Canonites on the various forums suggested this canon 28 135mm lens as a good starting point.

The canon 28 135mm lens IS USM Zoom is the one I use all the time now on the Canon 10D, and that will be the case until I get over the sticker shock of the 10D/Canon 28 135mm f 3.5 5.6 EF combo and start adding other lenses to my kit.

In the meantime, this canon 28 135mm lens gets the job done very well. It gives you good range for a variety of of shots, from portraits to telephotos. There is even a macro mode, which gives you the opportunity to do close-ups–not really a true macro, but okay for shots of flowers, your kitty cat’s face, etc.

It is the flexibility of this canon 28 135mm lens that makes it so appealing if all you have is just one lens. And remember that if you mount this Canon 28 135mm f 3.5 5.6 EF on a digital camera, like the 10D, the range is actually extended by a factor of 1.6.

The USM focuses fast, and the Image Stabilization (IS) really works. In fact, I’ve been spoiled by it, and IS is now a must for any of the longer lenses I might purchase in the future.

The IS system “locks” on target so that camera shake is eliminated or at least seriously minimized. This means fewer shots ruined by camera shake, and the IS system allows the user to shoot handheld at slower shutter speeds. This isn’t just advertising hype. It works.

The image quality is quite good. I get good color saturation, contrast, and sharpness. After tweaking some shots in Photoshop, I was able to turn out some excellent 13×19 inch prints.

As others have pointed out, if you are just starting out with a Canon DSLR or SLR and want one good general purpose lens, this is it.

As of August 2008 I have sold this lens because I have moved on to Canon “L” glass, but the canon 28 135mm is still a great EF macro lens to start with if you are just beginning to learn photography.

How to use Tamron AF 28-80mm SLR Camera Lens Reviews.

I purchased this tamron slr camera lens with my 35mm Rebel K2. A the time of this slr camera lens review I have shot 4 rolls of B&W film though it of Landscape and some action shots of people.

The tamron slr camera lens has preformed admirably thus far. I have used it in both manual and auto focus modes both have resulted in good sharp photos. The included slr lens hood does a good job of preventing glare on the lens and the lens cap included with the lens can be removed with the hood on the tamron slr camera lens.

The way the wide angle- zoom feature works seems odd in order to get this tamron slr camera lens to act similar to a “prime” lens it makes some sense the lens is at it’s shortest length a 50mm then lengthens when either going to 28mm or 80mm.

Holding the camera and lens properly will prevent you from accidentally interfering with the focus ring in the auto focus mode. I prefer manual focus (old habits die hard) however when in auto focus the lens works well to quickly focus and allow the camera to shoot.
This isn’t a fast lens as far as maximum aperture is concerned but for the average user it will work well in most normal lighting situations.

If you are doing photography in lower light this tamron slr camera lens may not work for you.

Over all the lese is good for a good price for about $50 this is a good lens for the average non-professional beginner / intermediate photographer

That’s the essence, but let me start with my first impressions. As soon as I pulled it out of the box and held it in my right hand, it felt too small. I can’t hold it quite as firmly as my other digital SLR camera.

I asked my girlfriend to hold it, and Voila! Perfect Fit. So I guess this digital SLR camera is highly recommended for Cinderella photographers.

So much, that I immediately looked into the Accesories catalogue for a Vertical grip, which usually makes the digital SLR camera much larger and found that Sony has three options, neither of which is compatible with the A230.

I think that if I still lived in the USA, I would’ve returned this for another Sony Alpha that’s a little larger (and a little more expensive) like the A300.

But I’m in Colombia, and I just paid an additional 90 bucks just to get my big ol’ hands on this baby, so I’m gonna have to get used to it.

That said, I am aware that in most cases the main support for the camera’s weight is actually my left hand, making its awkwardly small size a reminder of the proper way to hold a camera

  • SLR Camera Lens Tip: How to Brighten up Backgrounds in Flash Pictures

    • Find the flash mode control on your digital slr camera and set it to FAST.
    • If your digital slr camera don’t have this mode, don’t panic — there’s another method which we’ll get to in a moment.
    • FAST tells the digital slr camera to treat the scene as a non-flash picture as well as a flash picture, that is, to properly expose the background.
    • Snap your picture and compare it to one using straight flash.
    • Whatever background details there are should now be visible.
    • Want even more control? Set your flash back to “lightning bolt” and your digital slr camera to MANUAL.
    • This has the same effect as SLOW flash, but you can now adjust the brightness of the background by changing the shutter speed.
    • Remember, don’t go any faster than your camera’s flash synch speed, or your picture will not be fully illuminated.

  • How the SLR Camera Lens images are slightly soft .

This  SLR Camera lens in tack sharp. It shows the fire in the colors you photograph. The wide aperture means candles can be excellent lights for portraits. Its narrow field is great.

There are pitfalls though. I snapped a pic of my face at arm’s length using autofocus a while back and

    • the focus locked on the tip of my nose and my face was already blurring
    • the canon EF telephoto lens was so sharp that I saw blackheads clearly on my nose tip I can’t really see in the mirror (doh!).

I’ve read that dSLR images are slightly soft to aid in later editing. I can only imagine what it would do on a film camera.

Yesterday while camping I slapped this canon EF telephoto lens on. Unlike the 28-135, this one is light enough that I didnt notice I was carrying a camera everywhere.

At night I put the SLR Camera lens on the top of the car pointed at the sky, set the shutter for 15 secs, and hit the button.

Much to my amazement, the lens not only showed hundreds of stars that were invisible to my eyes, but it also found a galaxy. That pic is on the customer image section of this page. You can see what I saw, but the smaller size doesn’t do the EF telephoto lens justice.

One quirk of Amazon is that this page keeps alternating pictures of lenses. This ef telephoto lens does not have the distance focus scales on the outside of it.

Zoom is nice for many things. But where zoom isnt necessary, performance is very, very nice. Performance at $70 is almost too good to be true.

Let me close by repeating what has been said elsewhere and will continue to be said here….IF YOU OWN A SLR Camera lens, STOP NOW AND GET THIS EF Telephoto LENS!

  • Why the Canon EF Telephoto Lens are Difference SLR Lens.

    • You can take less-shaky pictures by: bracing your camera against a solid object; pressing the shutter button smoothly; spreading your feet out; tucking your elbows in; using an image-stabilized lens; drinking less coffee.
    • Camera shake is also related to the focal length of the lens you’re using. The longer the lens, the faster the shutter speed must be to avoid shake. Indoors, keep your lens short and move in closer.
    • Remember, shutter speeds which minimize shake may not stop motion. You can easily end up with a non-shaky picture with blurry subjects.
    • If you’re shopping for a digital camera, buy one with a maximum ISO of 1600 or above. Cameras with a top ISO of 400 are nearly useless indoors without flash.
    • On a digital camera, use a tripod, turn off the flash and then use the timer. Before you take the shot take a good deep breath and hold it. Relax, and wait a couple of seconds to allow your body to settle.
    • This will reduce the amount of movement being caused by your breathing and involuntary muscle movement.
Get as close to your subject as possible, consistent with good composition.
    • Camera shake is more noticeable the further away the object is from the camera. On a film camera, you can do this by using a higher speed (ISO) film.
