    Nikkor Nikon lens review5
Amazed at how fast it came- like within a couple of days aft ord. Was as described- still in box & brand new condition. Recently went to Fla & used the lens- performed beautifully- it’s fast, precise, user-friendly & best of all- most people are saying these pix are award-winning! I am completely satisfied in every way & would definitely do business with these vendors again.

    Nikon 18 VR review4
Overall, I would have to say this lens does what it is supposed to do. It is an excellent general purpose zoom, with the added benefit of VR. Just to make things clear, I am not the type of person who compares the minute details of lenses; but I do notice the differences between them. After using this lens and selling it to purchase the nikon 17-55mm f/2.8, I have noticed a few differences between them. Obviously, build quality is no competition, with the 17-55 easily winning (feels like one solid machined block!) There is one thing that I definitely miss from the 105mm lens though–VR! Yes, over the course of time that I had the 17-55mm, I learned to love VR, and trust me–you don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone, especially in the case of VR. VR aside, however, the 17-55 has the benefit of a constant aperture, along with better contrast and color in my opinion. then again, it costs three times what the 18-105 does (I bought mine off of craigslist for $900–don’t pay $1220 new, that is a ripoff. if you’re going to pay that much get the new 24-70mm.) For what it is supposed to do, however, the 18-105mm does just fine.

    Great Nikon DX lens5
This Nikon F lens has had some tough reviews… but I don’t know why?
Affordable - I bought mine refurbished for 220 (looks and works like new).
Great Quality Images - Better zoom range and sharper than the 18-55vr (another great affordable lens) Built in manual zoom ring - This is a must have if you are shooting DSLR videos as there is no auto focus on the D90 Video. This is obviously not a “pro” lens, but it takes great photos and is priced reasonably. I highly recommend it.

    A great compromise between the 18 Zoom,4

I recently traded the 18-55mm VR lens from my D60 kit for this lens. I wanted something with more range than the 18-55 offered, and with VR, so it was a choice between the 18-200mm VR and this lens. Between the price of the latter, and the reports of worse distortion, zoom creep, and poor feel of the zoom & focus rings of the 18-200, I decided this was the best choice. The fact that this lens is a tad shorter and a good bit lighter (420g vs. 560g) make it an even better choice for a walkaround (or even only) lens for normal use.

The fit & finish is much better than that of the kit lens, and while it is a bit heavier than the 18-55, it’s not appreciably longer, if any. I’m not a good enough photographer to tell you how it compares on distortion to either the 18-55 or the 18-200, so I won’t even try. But it produced a number of wonderful images for me today, under low light and handheld, without noticeable distortion, and they were very clear except if I was shaking badly (this is with shutter speeds of 1/40-1/10). I purchased it for $300 new, about half of the price of the 18-200mm VR. In all, I am quite satisfied with this lens as an all-around, do-everything lens.

    Great Nikkor Nikon F Quality4
The optical and mechanical quality of this lens is nothing short of fantastic. I have been very pleased with the results of this lens. Great sharpness and nice contrast. The Nikon Nikkor lens is a bit heavy but the VR allows one to hand hold it with impressive results even at 400mm. If you need the extra reach of 400mm, this lens will not disappoint you.

    Nikon f 2.8. is Photography!!!!!5
In the early spring and into the summer, I spend most of my spare time working on a raptor nesting program. I look for the nests of various birds of prey, (hawks, eagles, falcons, and owls) gps their positions and photograph the adult and young. To get a better image of these beautiful birds I bought the Nikon 80-400mm lens. I haven’t been disappointed. I get good sharp hand held photos, thanks to the VR capability. It is a little slow on the focus but nothing to stop me from getting some great shots of bird sitting and in flight. I recently bought a Nikon 80-200mm f2.8 D ED lens. This lens is very, very sharp. I was surprised when comparing the two lens side by side. It is almost impossible to tell which lens took which photo. Both the Nikon 80-200mm f2.8 D ED, and the 80-400mm VR lenses are a tribute to Nikon high standards of excellence.

    400mm Lens 5
I purchased this 400mm 5.6 after selling the famous 70-200mm monster because I wanted the feature of 400mm. I was hesitant to make the purchase because of the noted sluggish automatic focus - and it is true. But now I use it solely with manual focus and usually a monopod and the reults are just incredible. I have taken beautiful bird and wildlife photos as well as far away details that I had never successfully photographed.

    great Nikkor Nikon lens!5
After buying the Nikon 18-135 lens and also the lowest price from any website from ebay to Amazon this is now my everyday lens that I use. Thanks for the great price and a quality product.

I love this Nikon DX lens.5
I love my 135mm lens. I find it works for about everything I take pictures of. There are very few times I take it off. A great purchase for my everyday use. [...].

    perfect range, light, fast focus4
I bought d80 because of this nikon 18 135 mm. The Nikkor 135mm is a perfect range for one lens. I didn’t want to switch lenses so this was the solution. There are a lot criticism in amazon reviews about this lens, but just know that all zoom lenses have distortions. Nikon lens makers decided to make this into a sharp lens and sacrificed on distortion part. The thing is there are plenty of photographers titled PRO in flickr who love this lens. I’m not a pro, but I’ve seen their photos and the lens seems to work just fine for them.

My two cents, 4.0 out of 5 stars

I am a novas photographer at best i got this nikon 18 135mm lens in the D80 kit and have been shooting with it for over a year, like most people I
didn’t have thousands of dollars to spend on a lens, and I feel that it
is a wonderful lens as well as versatile. I have taken it hiking my kids
have played with it and it is still going. As far as the statements this
is a good lens for an armature but not a pro well check out Nikon’s site
were they have pros shoot with all different cameras and lenses and I feel
a true pro can work with anything handed to them. So in my opinion if you
and looking for something to learn with this is a great lens and don’t let all the so called pros out there scare you off. You don’t have to spend thousands of dollars to take good pics just believe in yourself and don’t give up.

well balanced and versatile,4.0 out of 5 stars

I’ve had this SLR camera lens for a couple of years, now, and have used it as a walkabout/travel lens on my D-80 for many thousands of pictures. It’s not as sharp as the 70-300 VR, and much less sharp and accurate than the 1.8 50 mm. At the same time, it’s taken a lot of really good pictures, and has made it down the Grand Canyon on a raft (with a dry bag), and memorialized the trip very well. I keep looking at the new 16-85 VR, but for the money, this is a really good lens. Outdoors, it has excellent sharpness, color rendition, and speed. I’ve also used it for interiors, where zoom framing is valuable, although it loses a bit in speed and aharpness without flash. Even there, it’s way better than point-and-shoot quality.
    Still thinking about the 16-85..

    Great Lens - I Would Give it 6 Stars if I Could!5
This is a great zoom 200mm — I would give it 6 stars if I could! Especially at this price!  When I first realized that *ONLY* AF-S model lenses would work properly on my D40 (i.e., fully functioning auto focus), I must admit that I was a bit bummed. This fact greatly limited my choice of lenses, therefore limiting my pricing options. But when I found out there was an AF-S telephoto for less than $250, I just had to buy it!

This nikon 55 200mm ed lens works great, takes great pictures, and is super focused (and super stable especially at long distances thanks to the VR technology). And at close physical ranges, the shallow depth of field creates amazing contrasts between your main subject and the background. Used as a macro, the subject pops into focus beautifully, with wonderful bokeh behind it.
I could go on and on about this nikkor nikon lens, but I won’t. It is the best $220 I have spent in a long while!

    Photos made easier5
I am thrilled with my new lens 200mm, I am a casual photographer, but I wanted to be able to take pics of my son pole vaulting from a distance.
It is a great lens for the price.

    Amazing!5
Wow. Pretty much sums it up. I cant tell you how happy I am I bought this nikon 55 lens. The pictures it takes are amazingly clear, crispt and just the way I like them to look. Im not a proffessional photographer but with this new lens this what the family now calls me, The family Photographer. I could not be happier with this purchase. And the price was perfect. Oh by the way, i have a Nikon 40D that im using the lens with.

BEST Nikon DX Lens for the price!,5.0 out of 5 stars
Seriously… I use it on my D60. I LOVE it. If you have the money, go ahead and buy a high end lens, but if your like me and a college student with no money, then buy this lens. It is an awesome telephoto lens for the price. I take tons of pictures and they are almost never soft… I love this lens. It is a great addition to any camera bag, and since I paid only $95 for a brand new one thanks to the Circuit City Liquidation, I REALLY made out. I would easily spend $175 for this lens and not think twice about it! Quit reading reviews on it and just buy it!

VR really works and the price can’t be beat.5.0 out of 5 stars

I had the nikon 55 200mm dx non VR version for about 5 months, sold it to essentally recover my cost, and bought the VR version as a replacement. The non VR version was very compact and light, and produced excellent photos, but the slightly larger VR version is so much more usable I don’t miss the other lens at all. The VR works as advertised and allows me to take pictures at 3 times or more lower shutter speeds than the non VR version. While I would love the 18-200mm VR for the convenience, I will never be able to justify the $750 price, so my 18-55mm kit lens and this lens will likely cover my needs as long as I own my camera. I also seriously considered the 70-300mm VR, but couldn’t accept twice the price for only 50% more reach. And at twice the length of the 55-200mm non VR version, it would be too awkward for me to carry around. I am very satisfied with this 55-200mm VR lens and if you are considering it, please give it a try. You will not be dissapointed.

    nikkor 135mm EF Telephoto4

For Digital SLR the 28 135 canon. Wide open this  nikon dx lens has some noticeable flaws, but if you force it to using a more closed aperture (say F8), many of those become less apparent. Even if you’re forced to shoot wide open or you don’t know better, you can correct the aberrations and vignetting in software.
While some prefer the slightly better build of the 18-70mm, I’d take the extra 65mm any day over a distance scale and a metal lens mount. For crying out loud it’s an autofocus walk around lens, so distance scales are relics for few people to use and the mount is a moot point, since it will stay on 99% of the time. As for focus speed, it’s great. There are faster focusing lenses, but not with a comparable zoom range for the price. Nikon is not a charity, they design sophisticated lenses, build them to high tolerances, and sell them to a loyal following at a fair price.

Enough of the weaknesses, which plenty of other folks will write about, it is a very good lens. 135mm lens is about as long of a lens that I would want without VR stabilization, but it works well when there is ample light. Since it’s only intended for DSLRs, bumping the ISO is always an option to assure shake free shutter speeds.

Why isn’t this a 5* review, well, I can honestly tell you that there are many people with defective lenses in need of repair/replacement. I believe those issues have been fixed, but it’s not a good circumstance. I recommend that you be sure to buy a genuine US copy with a full warranty–don’t fall for any extended warranty though, as it’s got a generous 5 years from Nikon. Being to ‘po boy I am, I opted for one of those refurbished ones, hoping it was a ef 28 135mm that was returned by someone expecting a perfect lens at a bargain price, and a double check by Nikon assured that it is and likely will always be fully functional. No regrets thus far.

    Great Lens! Wouldn’t trade it5
I love this lens! in spite of all the ‘pro’ reviewers who claim this is a very weak lens….I’ve had extemely good results & wouldn’t (haven’t) trade it for several better, faster lenses. It is the one lens I use 99% of the time….indoors, portraits, outdoors, landscapes, wildlife. Too often, you just don’t have time to change lenses…you’d have to carry at least two cameras with different lenses (wide & tele)….and I’ve seen photographers who do, but for an 8 hour shoot, it is just too much for me & not worth the extra trouble.
I shoot weddings and have two ‘better’, faster lenses, but never use them…things happen too quickly at weddings and you would miss half the shots if you had a 70-200 or the 17-55. I’ve tested these lenses against the ‘quality’ of the 18-200 and was very disappointed in the “better’ lenses. The 18-200 takes great pictures…..just practice with it to see what you need to do in certain situations…..low light, fast action etc.
I love it and recomend it highly.
