Great Digital SLR
SLR cameras nikon I purchased this nikon d40 camera for myself last year. I had hinted to santa that this was what I wanted for Christmas. Christmas came and went with no camera under the tree. So, I took advantage of a good deal at Amazon and purchased the D40x kit and also the 55-200mm VR lens. A year later and I’m still pleased with my purchase. I’m still learning how to use it, having fun and taking some great pictures.

I took a while converting from film to digital. My first two digital slr nikon (back around 2000) were sold within a week of purchase. Somewhere around 2004, I bought my first point-and-shoot nikon d40 digital slr, and it was good enough to keep. I have upgraded one or two times, but finally had to get an nikon d40 slr digital camera.

Fantastic nikon digital cameras for the price. Amatuer and pros alike will find useful.
Fantastic small nikon slr form factor in a surprisingly high-quality image. Have been using this nikon d40 digital camera for travel assignments and on-the-go when I need to spend a lot of time wandering around, and is an excellent light-weight and inconspicuous body. Still works with many Nikon lens, though you’ll need to manual focus with some of them. Highly recommended, I plan on using this till 2012. A++

Great Lens! Wouldn’t trade it
I love this lens! in spite of all the ‘pro’ reviewers who claim this is a very weak lens….I’ve had extemely good results & wouldn’t (haven’t) trade it for several better, faster lenses. It is the one lens I use 99% of the time….indoors, portraits, outdoors, landscapes, wildlife. Too often, you just don’t have time to change lenses…you’d have to carry at least two cameras with different lenses (wide & tele)….and I’ve seen photographers who do, but for an 8 hour shoot, it is just too much for me & not worth the extra trouble.
I shoot weddings and have two ‘better’, faster lenses, but never use them…things happen too quickly at weddings and you would miss half the shots if you had a 70-200 or the 17-55. I’ve tested these lenses against the ‘quality’ of the 18-200 and was very disappointed in the “better’ lenses. The 18-200 takes great pictures…..just practice with it to see what you need to do in certain situations…..low light, fast action etc.
I love it and recomend it highly.

Best value so far
This lens is probably one of the best bargains I have purchased from Nikon. It is VERY sharp and fast and quiet. Very fast for the $$$. I almost alway leave it on my D200. It is a great all around lens.

Great Digital SLR Lens

Brought this for the D80 about two months ago, and I’m loving it. With the 1.5 crop factor, it’s perfect for portraits, and I don’t have to get too close to my victim (subject/model). I also compliment this with the 85mm 1.8 for portraits. Of course, your feet/legs have to work for the composition, but this puppy will deliver sharp images!

Fast and sharp Digital SLR Lens
After using only Zoom lenses, going to a prime its like magic.

You loose the zoom, so you have to start moving (step back, step forward) but the aperture of this lenses its great, low-light shots are now possible without an intrusive flash.

Lens have good build quality and sharpness, and are a great and cheap option, but note; this 50mm will become 75mm on digital DX format cameras.
Its hard to take a picture of a group of people on a small room due to this. (birthday? aim for the cake and 1 or 2 persons max)
